We are all constantly on the lookout for something different, be it chilling with friends, gossiping about work or having a cool conversation with an absolute stranger. How about embarking on an epic food journey with food trucks, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life with good food, large portion sizes, and eating without a care about those around, with sauce speckled all over your face? Sound good? Read on.

If you thought that Bengaluru was a place only for the niche-hip foodie, it certainly is not just so, as today food trucks are paving their way to becoming Bengaluru’s kings. They draw food lovers, those in constant search for one-of-a-kind eats; hungry students, office workers; dish out the last hurrah of many drunken nights; and satisfy the neighborhood that knows the best food in town doesn’t come from a five-star restaurant, but from the side window of a beat-up van.

Along with mouth-watering burgers, tacos, barbecue, vegetarian fare, sandwiches, and ethnic platters that are elevating today’s fast food experience, here are some of the Food Trucks that have earned a place among food truck royalty and history.

The SWAT Truck

Recently opened and just a few months old yet everyone’s already talking about them. With a cool name ‘SWAT’ that stands for ‘Serving With A Twist’, they are a group of 24 year-old-friends, who drew their inspiration from Eat St., a show featuring America’s Food Trucks on FOX life. SWAT specializes in gourmet food. If you are in the mood for some good sumptuous burgers, this is the truck to raid! The menu is well-thought out and covers their signature burgers – the meat burger and mac and cheese sauce burger. Crowd favourites such as the Corn dogs, Fish fingers and deep fried Oreos served with Ice-cream get your taste buds longing for more. So close your eyes and pick anything from the menu, you won’t be disappointed.

Gypsy Kitchen

This flashy truck with red-orange flames leaping from a black background got everyone’s eyeballs popping with shock initially. They have a wacky tagline too “Fast food just got faster.” Their food comes with an attitude that surely seems is here to stay. The draw of this food truck are the all-American burgers, hotdogs, and sandwiches. The moment you bite into these sandwiches or burgers, your taste buds are submerged in the flavours from different parts of the world all heaped together on a platter. They are usually parked in HSR Layout from 5.30 p.m. onwards. Their signature menu includes BBQ chicken burger and the spicy chicken sandwich – after eating them, you will never ask for anything else.

Meals-On-Wheels

This food truck is for all those who love Chinese fast food and is way different in comparison to the ‘usual’ Chinese food. They are known for their oriental menu that is distinctive and includes flavoured momos (butter chili, butter garlic). Ever tasted Chinese Bhel or Chinese style Chicken Manchurian? Spicy-tangy Chinese Bhel with a twist. Yes, Yes they DO have it, I can see the foodie in you already whatsapping your pals.
