Buying branded outfits in Mumbai
If you thought shopping in USA was cheaper than shopping in India for the same brands, think again. More often than not, picking up branded clothes in India would cost you much less. Of course, for that, you need to shop at the right places.
Tucked away in a one-way section of the street down the restaurant Just Around the Corner (Bandra W), H20 comes complete with separate shops for kidswear and clothes for men and women. Pink velvet pants by GAP for your little princess, belted formal-wear tops in Diesel and Victoria Beckham jeans for yourself, well-fitting jeans in FCUK for him and even Tommy Hilfiger linen—get it all here. There are trial rooms as well on the first floor. Expect to find the best brands like Disney, Zara at super prices.
Clever tunics in ribbed cotton, spangled tops in sheer net, lacy leggings, hip track pants and much more: seek out Cotton On, a literally hole-in-the-wall outlet choked with hundreds of big blue plastic bags outside and bursting with clothes. To reach this place come to Barista near Lilavati Hospital in Bandra Reclamation and turn round this corner. And lo! There you’ll stumble on racks packed with Mango T shirts, Ralph Lauren pants, Marks and Spencer shirts, Espirit jeans and what not. No trial is allowed though.
Just Casuals has branches all across Mumbai, right from the one opposite Colaba post office (this is the best), to the one situated near Infiniti Mall in Andheri West. You get the best bargains in flannel and jersey night-suits, dainty capris, hiker shorts and half-sleeved shirts here. Then there is GAP innerwear and jumpsuits for tiny tots as well.
Clothes Rack is the best halt for trousers, pants, capris and shorts, especially if plus-sizes are what you are leaning to. Expect to find T shirts and shirts in plain colours, and stripes.
In addition to this, if you are also on the prowl for some branded lingerie, you will find Victoria Secret and Marks and Spencer at the export surplus shop Apparel Inc at Kemps Corner. It lies exactly behind the bookstore Crossword and has sprouted another outlet at the Andheri-Juhu circle.
Leaves you wondering about the crazy prices you have been paying all this while during your shopping spree, eh?
