Picnic Spots in Delhi
The lush green parks of Delhi are major attractions for city dwellers, who often visit such places for picnics or outings. There is nothing which deters dilliwalas from lounging in these green spaces. Families, couples and those seeking solitude can steal moments of fun or tranquility from such places.
Nehru Park promises you uninterrupted greenery and plenty of trees that provide shade for a languid picnic. Tombs & monuments are major highlights of this park. You can pick up sandwiches, burgers and juices from the nearby Nirula’s or snack on potato chips or namkeen from the vendors in the park . These vendors often double up as photographers, all you need to do is to guide them to use your camera properly.
Right next door to the overcrowded Rose Garden is the Deer Park in Chanakyapuri. Kids love this park and are thrilled to watch grazing deers or rabbits in huge enclosures. Trees and shrubs surround the Deer Park. If you haven’t planned for an outing earlier or haven’t packed yourself a hamper, just visit the multi-cuisine Park Baluchi Restaurant for a great family meal.
If you are seeking solitude & need to spend some quiet time at a serene place far from the crowd and bustle of the city, visit the Lodhi Garden. The garden is a premier spot for bird watchers. The Lodhi Garden Restaurant within the park rates high on the “romantic meal” index in south Delhi.
The India Gate lawns near Rashtrapati Bhavan needs no introduction. The lawns bustle with a lively crowd when the weather is good. From families to loners, you’ll find them all with their crisp bed sheets, blankets and hampers of goodies. From the baloonwalas, channa vendors, ice cream kiosks you could look forward to a lot of fun and excitement at the India Gate Lawns.
If these parks fail to attract you, you may visit the Badhkal Lake in Sohna, Gurgaon or the Tughlaqabad ruins on the way to Surajkund, where you can look forward to some great adventure and fun.
Go on, make the most of the fresh air and warm sun. But keep in mind that these public parks restrict picnics in summer from 4.30 pm to 7 pm and 11 am to 4 pm, in winters.
