Tailoring for ladies in Chennai
There are two services that are really very difficult to get, a good tailor and a good hairdresser. Here’s a low-down on a few good ladies’ tailors in Chennai. Seek them out and latch onto them for life.
Salwar stitching
If you have a fabulous fabric and want a tailor to do justice to it head to Rich Fashions (Anna Nagar). But if you don’t have much time on your hands, try Bulls Eye (Egmore). They sell fabric, and offer to stitch it for you as well. Come here for comfortable, daily-wear salwar suits.
Trousseau treasures
If you are looking to get your wedding outfit done, or maybe a trousseau, Lasya (off Kasturi Ranga Rd) is your place. Usha will be your fashion guide and help you decide on your chosen outfit. Though a bit on the expensive side, Lasya is worth the visit. While you are at it, walk into Rekha’s Boutique (Alwarpet) and take a look around. They have quite a decent collection, and an in-house tailor, who will create one-piece wonders, just for you. In case you pick up fabric from them, the stitching is done free of charge
Blouse stitching
For the other segment of women who are into sarees, and are forever looking for tailors to stitch well-fitting blouses, Raju Tailor in Kilpauk is the answer to their prayers. It’s a small shop, where they stitch only ladies blouses. A perfect fit and a delivery within 24 hours are what they guarantee.
Another tailor who promises the same is Ladies Tailoring Shop (Ashok Nagar). If not in a hurry, visit Aruna Tailors (T Nagar); Aruna does a good job as well. Having been in this line for over a decade, she has qualified tailors to stitch different styles of blouses.
